The Centrepoint (formerly Centrepoint Shopping Centre) is located along Orchard Road and is one of the major retail destinations for Singaporeans and tourists alike. The mall is usually crowded with throngs of shoppers during weekends and weekday nights as well as with diners and working executives here for their meals during mealtimes. On the outside, there seem to be constant queues at the taxi stand and carpark entrance throughout most of the day.
The complex is anchored by the Robinsons Group (Robinson Store and Marks & Spencer) as well as a branch of Cold Storage supermarket chain whose history here goes back almost a century to 1917 when it originally opened in the area on which The Centrepoint mall currently stands.
The retail mix includes clothing and fashion, leather goods & bags, electronics & cameras, as well as plenty of restaurants, fast food outlets and casual eateries (most located at the hind annexe).
Other nearby malls include Starhub Centre (behind The Centrepoint), Cuppage Plaza, Orchard Point, and the newer malls 313@Somerset and Orchard Central across Orchard Road.
